A brief overview of the Supreme Court:
The Supreme Court plays a vital role in shaping American laws, upholding rights, and balancing the powers of the other two branches of government. Presented by Nils Pedersen and Dr. Joyce Francis, this four-part in-person and online discussion series will review the court’s processes and players, explore select major cases from the 2021 term, and discuss the scheduled cases for 2022. Participants are invited to share the questions/concerns they have about the court during the first session, and the group will seek to address those in the following sessions. No registration is required.
Nils Pedersen is a retired patent attorney and newly admitted member of the WA State Bar. His new interest is estate law and end-of-life legal planning. Dr. Joyce Francis is a retired international relations professor and long-time facilitator of the Great Decisions program at Jefferson County Library.
